World Book Day 2022!
What a day! Well done to everyone for their fantastic efforts for World Book Day 2022! This was the 25th edition of WBD and some of the costumes on display were exceptional. We had a great laugh at some and it was simply amazing to see everyone really embrace the occasion. Thank you to all parents who were able to get creative and show just how much fun reading and using your imagination can be! Even the staff got in on the act, which was great to see.
Costumes aside, each class also took part in many different activities to celebrate reading, illustrating and the simple pleasure that can be had from books. There were live lessons from BBC as well as specially prepared activities by the teachers and a spot prize for each class!
Parents - well done for sharing your favourite books - lots of interesting Titles - even grannies got involved!
In Primary Three it ranged from Rapunzel, The Runaway Pea, Beauty and the Beast, Amelia -Jane Again, Maltida, The Twits and the Famous Five and Anne of Green Gables.
In Primary 4/5 class, again many interesting titles; Little Women, Across the Barricades, A horse called Wonder, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Famous Five, The Twits and Little Women.
In Primary 6/7 class; Heidi, Of Mice and Men, Ann of Green Gables, The Midnight Gang, The Famous Five, Little Women, The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Famine Series, Charlotte's Web and The Twits.
Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton are still popular today and it was great to see that the old classics are a favourite - hopefully today will encourage children to choose books that others recommended.
We hope the pupils all enjoyed their day and we are already looking forward to next year!
