Letter to Parents/ Guardians

Dear Parents/Guardians,
A week has now passed in this unusual, unprecedented emergency situation that is impacting on the whole world. I hope everyone is keeping well.
Firstly, I want to congratulate you on the many roles that you are juggling right now. These roles may increase in the coming days and weeks.
As a staff, we recognise that everyone is doing their best under these circumstances. It is a quick learning period for us all. A few parents may be worrying about getting work completed or getting online. There is no need to stress or feel guilty, every household is different. You are and always have been your child’s primary educator. Do what you can!
Lots of free websites have been posted on our twitter account. These are just ideas and suggestions.
All children have been given work packs with Yr 4 -7 children using the app see saw to avail of activities. Most children are very familiar with this app and should be able to use it with confidence.
If you feel you need a change in routine you can join Twinkl for free and go to the parent hub - school closure tab and your day is prepared for you.
At this time it is important to look after the well- being of your child / children - this is a confusing time for them. If you want to explain to them about COVID there is a nice clip on ineqe.com. It is important to shield them from the news. A great free site each week day to join at 11 am for live P. E. is Instagram-@coreni_corekids (a local man from Omagh). Two other very useful sites for mindfulness and movement are:

Tyrone GAA also encourage you to continue to learn the Irish language- the link can be found on the school website.
These activities are enjoyed by the children much better if adults participate!!! (You may find you enjoy them also).
In the coming weeks please be sensitive to the needs of our teachers and families and understand if they are unable to be present remotely - we are all in this together and cannot predict the next few weeks.
However the greatest thing that you can do is love and support your child/children through this difficult time (as you always do). Look after yourselves and minimise your stress. Appreciate the little things, e.g. birds singing, spring flowers and sunshine through the window.
If we listen and follow the guidance and look out for each other we can get through it.
Right now we need to accept the situation and above all pray for our families and each other.
