A visit from local Auctioneer - Mr Richard Beattie
As part of Maths Week, the children from St Peter’s enjoyed a visit from Richard Beattie, a local auctioneer, farmer and businessman. The children from Primary 4 - 7 composed a set of interview questions based on mathematical areas which he uses in daily life, related to his job. Richard talked to the children about the importance of working hard in school to achieve what they want to be later in life.
Richard answered questions based on the different varieties of animals he has, their weights, travelling distances to sales, horse power of tractors, acres of land, breakfast times and hotel rates at Glen Park Estate.
Primary 1 and 2 also met Richard and told him about some of the animals they had. Children in P3 had great fun taking part in bidding at an auction role play!
Richard brought great excitement to St Peter’s today and showcased the importance of different mathematical areas which he needs in all aspects of his career. Thank you Richard for taking the time to help us celebrate Maths Week 2024!
